Shakespeare at Stubbings 27th to 31st July 2021

William Shakespeare's ‘The Merry Wives of Windsor’

“I think the devil will not have me damned, lest the oil that's in me should set hell on fire.” ...

Stubbings are very pleased to be welcoming back The Garden Players in July 2021 for five open air performances of Shakespeare's comic masterpiece, directed by John Timewell.

Following acclaimed performances in 2013, 2014 and 2015, and five completely sold out performances of 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' in 2017 and 'The Tempest' in 2019, The Garden Players return in 2021 with an exciting new production of one of Shakespeare's finest plays.

Sir John Falstaff, staying in Windsor and down on his luck, decides to restore his fortunes by seducing the wives of two wealthy citizens. Meanwhile three suitors (Slender, Doctor Caius and Fenton ), are all vying to win the lovely Mistress Anne Page's hand in marriage.

'Funny and poignant … perfect for a warm, summer’s evening.'

This charity event will be sponsored by Grundon the UK's leading family-owned supplier of waste management, environmental and recycling solutions, Norman & Frances Grundon and Stuart & Trish Fletcher.  All proceeds will go to the national charity, Child Bereavement UK based in Loudwater, High Wycombe.

Quotes from previous reviews...

“STARTING in 2008 the Garden Players’ productions have become a much anticipated annual event in the area, so it was with great excitement that I looked forward to their latest performance. While the setting was stunning, and a star in itself, the cast really shone.”

Beaconsfield Advertiser

“THE Garden Players reignited my love for William Shakespeare - it was a real pleasure to see one of his best plays performed by such a competent cast.”

This event will be held within the private grounds of the main house. To facilitate social distancing, we will not be using a covered stand this year and seating will be in the open air as it was for the very successful production of As You Like It at Stubbings in 2013 and four productions prior to that in Beaconsfield & Bath.

A licensed bar will be available.
