Shakespeare at Stubbings 9th to 13th June 2020

It has been decided to postpone the 2020 performances of Shakespeare's 'The Taming of the Shrew' to June 2021.

In the meantime the Garden Players have produced an excellent video highlighting their amazing achievements to date, and have included a few very memorable excerpts.

William Shakespeare's ‘The Taming Of The Shrew’

"If I be waspish, best beware my sting"

Stubbings are very pleased to be welcoming back The Garden Players in June 2021 for five open air performances of Shakespeare's masterpiece, directed by Jennamarie Smith.

Following acclaimed performances in 2013, 2014 and 2015, and five completely sold out performances of 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' in 2017 and 'The Tempest' in 2019, The Garden Players return in 2020 with an exciting new production of one of Shakespeare's finest plays.

Baptista, a Paduan gentleman, has two daughters, Katharine and Bianca. Bianca is beautiful and sweet tempered and several suitors seek her hand in marriage. Baptista, however, insists that Katharine, just as beautiful but sharp-tongued and rebellious, must be married first. The only man willing to court her is the equally feisty Petruchio, a stranger from Verona in search of a rich wife.

'Funny and poignant … perfect for a warm, summer’s evening.'

This charity event will be sponsored by Grundon the UK's leading family-owned supplier of waste management, environmental and recycling solutions, Norman & Frances Grundon and Stuart & Trish Fletcher.  All proceeds will go to the national charity, Child Bereavement UK based in Saunderton, High Wycombe.

Quotes from previous reviews...

“STARTING in 2008 the Garden Players’ productions have become a much anticipated annual event in the area, so it was with great excitement that I looked forward to their latest performance. While the setting was stunning, and a star in itself, the cast really shone.”

Beaconsfield Advertiser

“THE Garden Players reignited my love for William Shakespeare - it was a real pleasure to see one of his best plays performed by such a competent cast.”
