Rogue Opera – Carmen Reimagined

29th August 2026

As part of our 2026 Summer of Outdoor Theatre programme, we are delighted to welcome to Stubbings the talented Rogue Opera with their outdoor performance, Carmen Reimagined.

Carmen – fiery, daring and uncompromising – meets José, a soldier with a past…

Rogue Opera presents a fresh, modern staging of Carmen, performed by four singers and a pianist in an intimate, character-driven format. With English dialogue and a new script, the production brings the story vividly to life, focusing on Carmen, José, Escamillo and Micaëla, while the cast seamlessly takes on additional roles.

Blending Bizet’s iconic music with a dynamic, actor-led approach, this performance offers a powerful and engaging take on love, freedom and rivalry, designed to connect directly with today’s audiences in a flexible, stripped-back setting.

Gates open at 5.30pm for picnics; the performance starts at 7.30pm in the Walled Garden. Ends approx. 10:20pm, including two intervals.
